Brief

Marking Criteria for the presentation of the Research and Planning

Research and Planning may be presented in digital format. but can take the form of a folder or scrapbook at this level. Where candidates have worked as a group. this may be presented collectively. but teachers are asked to differentiate the contributions of individuals within the group in arriving at a mark and justifying individual marks on the assessment sheet. Each candidate should give a clear indication of their role in any group research and planning. As part of the moderation sample, the moderator will expect to see full evidence of the research and planning informing the construction process in order to support the assessment. 

Marking Criteria for the Evaluation 

Candidates will evaluate their work digitally. Where candidates have worked in a group, the evaluation may be presented individually or collectively but the teacher must allocate a mark according to the contribution/level of understanding demonstrated by the individual candidate. Each candidate should give a clear indication of their role in any group evaluation. 

 Questions that be must addressed in the evaluation are:

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

How did you attract/address your audience?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of construction this product?

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Development of Contents Page

I added the image I was going to use for the background.

I then added a box similar to Kerrang to feature all the elements of the magazine.

I then added some extra images and boxes to fill the space and to add appeal.

The instruments are a font from DAfont.com

Development Of Double Page

A brief description of the development of my double page.

I added the background image and the other image I was going to use. 

I then added the text for the article and another photo.

I fixed the layout of the images and put a black fill behind the text boxes to make them stand out.

I then put borders around the images to make them stand out.

Musik Evaluation

Audience Research

I did some research to find out what kind of music the audience is interested in and to find out what motivates them to get the magazine.

This Pie chart shows  how many males/females I researched. I found a 60% in male and 40% in female.

This pie chart shows the age of the people I asked. I found that 20% were between 0 and 10, or above 26. I then found that 20% were between 16 and 25. The highest percentage (40%) was 11 to 15 year olds. This has made me realise I will need to make my magazine appropriate for this age group.

This Pie chart shows how often people buy magazines and I found that 40% never buy them, I found this as most people get them on their smart phones. I found that 30% of people buy them weekly. 20% buy them Monthly and 10% buy them yearly.

This pie chart shows how the genre of a magazine is a big factor in purchase. 80% of people would buy a magazine because of the genre and 20% would not.

This pie chart shows what interests people in buying a magazine. I found that 20% look for concert information and offers. 20% look for the stories featured and free items included. However 40% are intrigued by the person on the front cover so I will make sure the person on my front cover appeals to the audience.

This pie chart shows which styles of music the audience prefer. 50% said rock which works perfectly for my magazine. 30% said R&B, Indie and Rap and 20% said Pop.

Final Double Page Article

This is the final version of my double page article for my "Musik" magazine. Overall after many improvements from my draft and much more research into the conventions of a rock magazine double page article I found the best layout for the information while still maintaining an interesting and strong double page. This version still has all the information from the previous draft but has been laid out in a few smooth and exciting way. This would be a more relevant and stronger article than the previous and I feel would be a piece that could be seen in a real magazine.

Final Contents Page.

This is my final contents page for my Musik Magazine. After a more in depth research of the contents page of other rock magazines such as Kerrang I found my drafts were lacking in most areas. For my final version I increased the quantity on the page to make the page more busy and appealing to the target audience and also to give the magazine a more professional look. I also aimed to maintain the house style of orange and black to keep the magazine all as one. Overall I am very happy with the final product and feel it has come out very professional.

Draft Contents Page 2

This is my second draft for my contents page. It has become my second draft as after discussing the contents page with my target audience they still felt that the contents page needed much work as it didn't include the conventions that a normal rock magazine would include. After looking further into the way a Kerrang magazine is presented I realised the main thing  was missing was the quantity on the page. So for my final contents page I am going to possibly change the picture and change the layout of the contents page so it fits the profile of a rock magazine front cover. The things I am going to address are the use of pictures, font and the quantity on the page.
